Bio
I have a passion for empowering individuals and families to attain a higher standard of functioning. Living in various countries I have experienced different cultural backgrounds and worked with different ethnic groups. I believe that this personal experience has equipped me to work with people of different cultures and allows me to relate to people dealing with different life changes and challenges.
I have made my home in San Diego since 2000. I was born and raised in South Africa, where I got my schooling and completed my BA in Social Work. I worked in a private practice in South Africa's capital city, Pretoria, for 3 yrs, doing child therapy and offering preventative programs to schools. Given the opportunity to travel, I moved to a small town in Germany, called Aachen, for 2 years before moving to San Diego. I completed my MA at Bethel Seminary in San Diego. During my training and internship I worked in a variety of settings to gain as much experience as I could. These agencies are listed on my resume.
I am currently licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I am pursuing two specializations:
Registered Play Therapist
Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist
I am also currently supervising two interns who work with me, and I provide training to other professionals who work with children and couples.
